Originally, when I thought about ending the Selfie project, I wanted to do so with a series of James Franco–inspired selfies. They were to be my 998th, 999th, and 1,000th selfies, respectively. In the end, however, I realized I had long surpassed 1,000 and, more important, people stopped caring about the selfie as it became the standard in identity representation. As I revisit this site and the impetus for the project, I thought, why the hell not? Thanks to Savannah Spirit for being my stand-in.
